IBM i

Also known as: AS400, iSeries, IBM System i, AS/400

IBM's integrated operating system for Power Systems, the modern name for the platform once known as AS400.

IBM i is IBM's integrated operating system for Power Systems, combining the OS, an integrated relational database (DB2 for i), and a security model into a single platform. It is the current name for the lineage that began as the AS400 in 1988, passed through iSeries and IBM System i, and now runs on Power11, Power10, and earlier Power hardware. IBM i is known for exceptional reliability and long application lifespans, with many organizations still running business-critical applications originally written decades ago.
