IBM Power 11 Models

IBM Model S1112 9242-21B through IBM Model E1180 9080-HEU: how the current Power11 family breaks down by machine type, footprint, workload, and buyer type.

IBM's initial Power11 rollout became generally available on July 25, 2025 with six systems. IBM expanded that lineup on July 24, 2026 with the compact S1112, which means the current Power11 family now spans seven distinct IBM model numbers across entry scale-out, mainstream scale-out, Linux-focused scale-out, and enterprise classes.

This page is the practical sorting layer: it uses the exact machine-type labels buyers expect to see, so the menu and the page no longer feel like repeated family names without specific models behind them.

S1112 9242-21BCompact entry scale-outDo you need the smallest current Power11 footprint and P05 IBM i entry path?

IBM Model S1112 9242-21B

IBM Model S1112 9242-21B is the smallest current Power11 rack server: a one-socket half-width 2U machine aimed at entry IBM i, AIX, Linux, branch, and edge deployments. It is the only current Power11 path into IBM i P05 and the first model to review when footprint and entry economics matter more than scale. View full S1112 9242-21B profile →

Start with the S1112 9242-21B when you want the smallest current Power11 box, the ability to deploy rack or pair the planning with the 9242-21T tower sibling, or a compact mixed-workload system where IBM i stays small and Linux or AIX may grow around it.

IBM Model S1122 9824-22A

IBM Model S1122 9824-22A is the denser 2U scale-out option for buyers who need meaningfully more processor and memory headroom than the compact S1112 can offer, but who still want a 2U rack system rather than a 4U machine. View full S1122 9824-22A profile →

IBM Model S1124 9824-42A

IBM Model S1124 9824-42A is the larger 4U scale-out system for higher-capacity workloads, denser consolidation, and mixed-workload growth beyond what either the S1112 or S1122 should be asked to absorb. View full S1124 9824-42A profile →

IBM Model L1122 9856-22H

IBM Model L1122 9856-22H is the compact Linux-focused scale-out system built on the Power11 architecture for organizations standardizing on Linux across their Power estate. View full L1122 9856-22H profile →

IBM Model L1124 9856-42H

IBM Model L1124 9856-42H is the larger Linux-focused 4U scale-out system for broader Linux consolidation on Power11. View full L1124 9856-42H profile →

IBM Model E1180 9080-HEU

IBM Model E1180 9080-HEU is IBM's high-end Power11 system, built for very large mission-critical environments, resilience, and advanced consolidation at scale. View full E1180 9080-HEU profile →

IBM Model E1150 9043-MRU

IBM Model E1150 9043-MRU is the enterprise midrange step for transactional databases, database-heavy workloads, and IBM i or AIX consolidation projects that have outgrown the scale-out S-series. View full E1150 9043-MRU profile →
